Idiom: make no bones about something
= speak one's mind, speak frankly
คือ การพูดอย่างตรงไปตรงมา พูดไปอย่างที่คิด หรือพูดอย่างเปิดเผย (รวมไปถึงการพูดแบบไม่สนว่าใครจะรู้สึกอับอายหรือไม่พอใจในสิ่งที่ตัวเองพูด ด้วย)
- If you make no bones about something, you're speaking plainly and telling the truth.
- You say clearly what you think or feel although you may embarrass or offend someone.
Example:
- If you are honest and admit that you didn't do your homework, you're making no bones about it.
- He made no bones about his dissatisfaction with the service in the hotel.
- He made no bones about how bad he thought the food was.
This expression dates back to the 1500s and some people believe it had to do with soup. If there were no bones in a soup, a person could swallow it without worrying about choking.
