การบอกทาง ภาษาอังกฤษ

วันนี้เรามาบอกทางเป็นภาษาอังกฤษกันนะ ก่อนอื่นเราต้องรู้คำศัพท์ก่อนแล้วค่อยไปดูตัวอย่างประโยคกันนะจ๊ะ

Go along this street until... ตรงไปตามถนนเส้นนี้จนกระทั่ง...
Keep walking until you see... เดินไปเรื่อย ๆ จนกว่าจะมองเห็น ...
Then turn left  จากนั้นเลี้ยวซ้าย
Then turn right จากนั้นเลี้ยวขวา
Then turn left into ... road จากนั้นเลี้ยวไปยังถนน...
It’s on the left / right hand side. มันอยู่ทาง ซ้าย / ขวามือ
It’s near... มันจะอยู่ใกล้ ๆ กับ ...
It’s next to... มันอยู่ถัดจาก ...
Walk past... เดินผ่าน...
It’s opposite ... มันอยู่ตรงข้ามกับ ...
It’s in front of ... อยู่ด้านหน้าของ...

Go straight on / ahead  ตรงไป
Turn back ย้อนกลับ, วกลับ
Take the third road on the left / right   เลี้ยวซ้าย/ขวา ที่แยกที่สาม
Go past   เดินผ่าน (มักใช้กับสถานที่)
Cross the street/junction    ข้ามถนน/ข้ามทางแยก
Go through    เดินผ่าน... (มักใช้กับทางแยก)
Go as far as    ไปไกลประมาณ...
Traffic Lights  สัญญาณไฟจราจร
Zebra Crossing   ทางม้าลาย

I’m sorry. I’m not from around here.ขอโทษด้วย ฉันไม่ใช่คนแถวนี้ (กรณีที่คุณไม่ใช่คนแถวนั้น)
I’m afraid I can’t.เกรงว่าฉันคงจะช่วยคุณไม่ได้

A : Excuse me. Where is the toilet ?ขอโทษนะ ห้องน้ำไปทางไหน

B : Go along this way until you see the bookstore. Then turn right and keep walking until you see the coffee shop. Turn right again. It’s opposite the bank.

vocabulary

Succumb / Yield / Surrender = (v)ยอมแพ้ ยอมจำนน

Nothing lasts forever.ไม่มี อะไร อยู่ได้ตลอดไป

Transcend (v) = อยู่เหนือ อยู่นอกเหนือ

Uncanny = weird = mysterious (adj) = แปลกประหลาด

Inevitable (adj) - หลีกเลี่ยงไม่ได้ เช่น Change is inevitable.

Destine (v) กำหนดไว้ล่วงหน้า

Destiny (n) โชคชะตา

Be about to = be going to = กำลังจะ

To pay attention to = สนใจกับ

Decline / Decrease / Wane = (verb) ลดลง ลดลง เรื่อยๆ

Defraud (verb) = โกง หลอกลวง

Fraud (noun) = การโกง

anticipate / anticipation รอคอยอย่างคาดหวัง

expect / expectation คาดหวัง

*** 2 คำนี้ (anticipate , expect) มีความหมายใกล้กันมาก expect จะเป็นอะไรที่มั่นใจว่าจะเกิดขึ้น แต่ anticipate จะเป็นหวังว่าจะเกิดขึ้น

เช่น My expectation is that John and Mary will get married.

My anticipation is that they will be married in June next year.

Simplicity = ความเรียบง่าย

Patience = ความอดทน

compassion = ความเมตตา

To get me through the day = เพื่อที่จะได้ผ่านพ้นไปในแต่ละวัน

To get me through the night = เพื่อที่จะได้ผ่านพ้นไปในแต่ละคืน

Take a chance = ลองเสี้ยงโชค

Take a risk = ลองเสี่ยงดู

Make a decision / Make up my mind / Decide แปลว่า ตัดสินใจ

effect (n) แปลว่า ผลกระทบ

affect (v) แปลว่า มีผลกระทบ
